George Thompson (EWOK)

George Thompson (Ewok), a California-based painter, artist, muralist, graphic designer, and illustrator, is a force. Born in Memphis and raised in Milwaukee, the artists journey into graffiti began in early 90's with a move to Minneapolis. In the Twin Cities, while attending the University of Minnesota, the artist set the foundation for what would become a prolific career in painting.

A founding member of HM (Heavy Metal), a legendary Midwest graffiti crew, Ewok's influence extends far beyond regional borders. For over two decades, he's been an integral part of renowned crews AWR (Art Work Rebels) and MSK (Mad Society Kings), building a irreputable legacy within the global graffiti community.

Ewok's artistic evolution is nothing short of remarkable. From his early days, the artist has developed a distinctive style characterized by highly rendered, organic lettering—his unprecedented abilities have elevated his graffiti. Like a master painter, he sculpts and textures his pieces, often employing monochromatic color schemes to create mind-bending compositions.

In recent years, Ewok has embraced a vibrant palette, revisited classic New York-inspired letter structures while infusing them with bold, eye-catching colors and whimsical cartoon characters.

With a BFA from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Ewok's talents extend beyond the realm of art. He's made waves in the world of graphic design and illustration, collaborating with esteemed fashion brands such as RVCA, Reebok, and The Seventh Letter. Currently, the artist is exploring a series of abstract paintings on paper.

Ewok's contributions to the art form are undeniable, and his fearless exploration of color, form, and technique continues to captivate global audiences. As a visionary and innovator, he remains at the forefront of "painting", pushing boundaries and inspiring future generations.
